ルネサンス時代のフランスやイタリアの修道女たちによる装飾が起源と言われるペーパークラフト「ペーパークイリング」を現代風にアレンジし、植物やミニチュアなど様々なモチーフを制作する。その活動は日本にとどまらず、毎年アメリカで行われるノースアメリカクイリングギルドのコンベンションにも参加し、数多くの受賞歴を誇る。材料や道具が入手しにくい現状を改善するために2015年に自ら専門ショップを立ち上げた。
制作だけでなく教室運営や講師育成にも力を注いでる。「わずか数ミリのクイリングペーパーが持つ無限の可能性と、紙ならではの優しさが魅力です。子どもからお年寄りまで楽しめる素晴らしいアート「ペーパークイリング」の魅力を伝えたいと思っています。」

In the Renaissance era, French and Italian nuns decorated religious objects with paper art which now is called Paper Quilling. Motoko Nakatani who is the paper quilling shop owner arranges it in contemporary style and creates plants, miniatures and many other motifs that received numerous awards.
She also makes efforts to teach and train instructors. “Just a few millimeter paper has unlimited potential. I'd like to introduce all the generations the fascination of it."

専用のツールを使いペーパーを巻く。この小さなパーツをいくつも組み合わせて様々なモチーフを創り上げる。１時間程度で仕上がるカードから、大作になると完成までに数ヶ月を要すものも。

Rolls up papers with a special tool. Various motifs are created by combining these small parts. Small cards might be take an hour, but big ones might take a few months to finish.
